Publisher Profiles

Publisher Profiles are descriptions of science curriculum publishers.

Each profile is for an individual publisher of science textbooks, resources or entire curricula. These are not really reviews as much they are “bios” that provide general information about the mission, affiliations, perspectives and course offerings of each publisher.

In most cases, publishers are contacted and invited to complete a survey in which they describe and classify themselves. Their responses to our questionnaire are used as the basis of our descriptions, and publishers’ own comments are often quoted.

Each profile consists of three basic sections:

• Specifications: A simple list of attributes that identify and classify the publisher by name, location, website, church and/or institutional affiliation, date of establishment, subjects and grade-levels of materials sold, target audience, position on origins, and several other parameters.
• Description: A paragraph that summarizes the publisher’s goals, purposes and approaches to scientific, theological and educational issues. This section generally includes quotations from the publisher’s own mission statements or survey responses.
• Assessment: A paragraph in which we rate the publisher and highlight features that we find noteworthy or distinctive. This includes noting unique or positive features; assessing the general quality and accuracy of the science; and commenting on the consistency, coherence and depth of Christian perspective offered.

As the list becomes larger, we will provide more sophisticated tools to search for particular items and categories of content.
